The second generation of Audi A3 was launched for the first time in Geneva Motor Show in the year 2003. The Type 8P of A3 was designed by Walter De'Silva. It had four cylinders with three door hatchback facility. Two other versions of sports cars, equipped with 3.2L V6 engine that had a power level of 247 bhp and 2.0 Turbo-FSI versions with a power of 197 bhp, were launched in the middle of 2003.
Just after one year, a new car Sportback with five door body was launched. This car was 80mm longer in length comparing to the previous car of three door body. It also included larger luggage area along with an advanced cabin space. In North America, this car was introduced in the year 2005 as a 2006 model-car.
